Hinckly Point go-ahead provides industry with good news

The decision to allow the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinckly Point is good news for construction.

Prime Minister Theresa May had paused the project, one of former Chancellor George Osborne's, for a review. Its £18bn cost is funded jointly by french and chinese investors.

However, the decision to proceed is great news for Laing O'Rourke, Kier, BAM, and many others already working on the site, and likely to in the future. It is hopefully a signal that key infrastructure projects will still work under the May government.

A decision on where to put a new runway is said to be imminent. Making that decision would provide more positive news.
