Overseas travel and tourism

This news release from the ONS covers the period July to September 2016. It contains the quarterly results from the International Passenger Survey which calculates overseas residents' visits to and from the UK and UK residents' visits abroad. The statistics show an increase of 1.5% to 10.7 million in the third quarter for overseas residents although the number of nights spent here fell slightly. However there was an increase on the amount they spent whilst here - 3.0% or £7.4 billion. UK residents visits abroad increased by 7.4%, with more nights being spent abroad and an increase of expenditure of 10.2% (£15.9 billion). Much more information available.
