Nominated Charities

Corporate Social Responsibility is an excellent opportunity for a marketer to promote their organisation. Although the concept is still evolving, there is the core element of supporting those who need assistance within our immediate environment, through our local communities and on an international scale.

The Financial Services Group is pleased to have nominated the following charities to support and work closely with. We will be raising the profile of these charities through our membership, along with raising some funds for each through various activities. At our events there will be always be an opportunity to both learn more about each charity and to support them through a fundraising initiative.

The nominated charities include:

The CIM Benevolent Fund

CIM benevolent fundOne of the first places that CIM members can turn for help, in circumstances of personal hardship, is their own professional Institute. The Benevolent Fund operates in a completely confidential manner, and is available to all existing members. The objective of the fund is the relief of hardship.

Donations to the fund can be made direct. Both cheques and direct debits are very welcome, and you might like to consider tax-efficient forms of making donations, such as Gift Aid, a Deed of Covenant, or a Legacy.

Further details of methods of giving, and their relative tax-efficiency, can be obtained from the Fund’s Secretary at the Institute, from whom copies of the full report and accounts are also available.

Haven House Children’s Hospice

HavenHouse childrens hospiceHaven House Children’s Hospice is a special place for special children. We care for children and young people between the ages of 0-19 who have life-limiting conditions and complex medical needs.

Although the children have a limited life expectancy we want them to live life to the full so we aim to give parents and carers a break from the demands of caring for their children but to also give the children a stimulating time with us.

Haven House childrens hospiceThe services that we are able to offer include:

• Day care
• Overnight stays
• End of life care
• TOTS clubs for life limited children under five
• A youth club
• Teenage weekends
• Toy Home Loan service
• Community play specialists

Caring for a sick child can often be challenging and it’s important that we are able to support the wider family.

Haven House childrens hospiceThe Haven House Buddies is a regular support group for siblings where they can meet, have fun and enjoy outings and workshops together. Individual support is offered for children who need extra help at difficult times.

There are also regular opportunities for parents and carers to come together such as coffee mornings, summer events and a Memory Day. The care and support Haven House provides is delivered at no cost to the families and so we depend on your help for the majority of our funding.

There are so many ways you can help our families. Here are just a few examples:

• Friends of Haven House – join an exclusive group of people committed to supporting Haven House.
• Donate a regular amount each month to Haven House.
• Pay roll giving – a direct payment before tax makes this a very tax effective means of giving.
• Match funding – an employer will often match any monies raised by staff.
• Fundraising events and challenges – we have lots of ideas that you and your colleagues can get involved with!
• Corporate support – perhaps your company would like to get involved. From recycling, to volunteering, to coming along to one of our events, there’s a whole host of opportunities.
