Most SMEs have a cause

Seven out of ten of Britain’s SMEs have a purpose beyond making money, according to new research from the Co-operative Bank. One example is Good-Loop, whose “ethical” video advertising business donates 50% of client spend to charity. Not all businesses are able to align purpose with profit but even those with traditional business models can make a difference. Companies should also encourage their customers to do good, according to Tom Pell of The Clean Kilo, a Birmingham-based store where people can buy unpackaged food by weight.
