Visitors turn backs on US

Author: Dawn Southgate

Millennial travel bookings to the US are down by 23% since the start of 2019 as young people shun the country because of the Trump administration (the co-called “Trump Slump”). Millennials and Gen Z travellers are “highly conscious and socially aware”, according to STA Travel, which specialises in student and youth travel. The US has suffered a greater decline among these age groups than anywhere else. The UN World Travel Organisation has also reported that visits to the US were “below the world average” in 2018, with growth of just 3% making it the worst-performing region.
