Florida to have net-zero homes

Author: Knowledge Services

Cortez, a fishing village in Florida, will have a new community of small homes that use solar power, battery storage and Google Home devices to achieve “net-zero” energy use. The homes, which were designed by a research institute at the University of Central Florida, are also hurricane-proof. Construction of the neighbourhood begins in 2019 by Pearl Homes which is also building 720 rental homes nearby using the same mix of technologies. It will become the first net-zero rental community of its size.
